Nestlé Pakistan, in line with its global initiative for nutritional awareness called Nestlé for Healthier Kids (N4HK), has taken a significant step towards raising awareness about healthy nutrition among young girls. The company inaugurated the N4HK room at the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund (PWWF) Higher Secondary Girls School in Sahukimalian, Sheikhupura.
The N4HK program aims to support teachers and caregivers in their efforts to nurture healthier kids through a curriculum-based education initiative that focuses on promoting healthy nutrition, hydration, hygiene, and an active lifestyle. The recent inauguration at the girls’ school in Sheikhupura marks a continuation of Nestlé Pakistan’s collaboration with PWWF to implement the N4HK program in various schools across nine cities, including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Warbourton, Multan, Kasur, Faisalabad, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, and Rawalpindi. The initiative aims to train more than 500 teachers, benefitting approximately 15,000 students by the year 2024.
Over the years, Nestlé Pakistan has been actively involved in developing N4HK rooms in partner schools, providing valuable resources for teachers and educators to reinforce the importance of good nutrition concepts for children.
During the inauguration ceremony, Jason Avanceña, CEO of Nestlé Pakistan, expressed gratitude to PWWF for their continuous support and partnership over the past five years. He emphasized the pressing need to create awareness about nutrition, given the high prevalence of child malnutrition in the country. Shockingly, over 40% of children under the age of 5 in Pakistan suffer from stunted growth, while 18% experience significant micronutrient deficiencies.
Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Fareed, Secretary Labour and Chairman PWWF, expressed their honor in extending the partnership with Nestlé Pakistan, believing that imparting nutritional awareness to teachers will play a vital role in fostering healthy habits and ensuring a better nourished future generation.
Nestlé’s N4HK program is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 of Good Health and Well-Being. By promoting nutritional awareness among children, Nestlé aims to instill the value of proper nutrition as they grow older. So far, the N4HK program has already reached approximately 320,000 children and 1,750 teachers across Pakistan, making a significant contribution to the country’s pursuit of better health and well-being.
Through such initiatives, Nestlé continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating a healthier and more nutritious future for the young generation, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of society.
